Crap Insurance

Just wanted to post an unfortunate story of having our stuff stolen and the insurance (purchased via worldnomads.com) looking for ways to avoid payment rather than doing their job of providing protection. Please be aware of this as having insurance doesn’t mean you’re protected, and just because your bags are locked and checked in with a reputable company doesn’t mean they can’t be broken into stealthily. Day 80: Stuck in Puno!

Floating Islands of the Uros people – everything built from reeds!

Buses aren’t running today because the road to Bolivia is blocked by a strike. We have no option but to stay another night and leave tomorrow instead. Not a bummer because I have a lot of admin stuff to catch up on anyway (tax returns from a past life!! Shit!).

Thoughts From The Road:

Day 78: Quite literally a pain in the ass…

Views from bus window as we cruised through the landscape…

On the road to the world’s largest high altitude lake – Titicaca. We decided to take the 7 hour journey during the day than roughing it at night, had enough nights on buses for now. Continued

Day 76: City of Heaven – Machu Picchu

After 15,500 kms and 76 days of travel, we finally made it to one of our most anticipated destinations – Machu Picchu, ‘lost’ city of the Incas. We arrived a day late for KF’s bday…

By 0500, there was already a long line waiting for the first bus up to MP. We got on the 7th bus for the 0530 departure, making us the 200th or so in line! The uphill ride took about 20 minutes but felt like eternity. For some reason, I was really nervous – it felt like Continued 繼續看…

Ollantaytambo

Day 74: Where’s our money??

POLTUR – Tourist Police in Cusco

Bad news.

We were repacking our bags for a side trip to Machu Picchu when soon enough things didn’t seem right.

My cash stash envelope disappeared. Well, it must be in the backpack somewhere… “look carefully” I thought to myself. Continued
