Day 17: Heading South to Lanquin

Day 16: Finally at Tikal

4:30am start, 6:00am arrival at Tikal. Overcast. No chance of any good morning sun for pictures. Day 15: Diarrhea Attack

We were supposed to head off to Tikal at 4:30am. With the last couple days being so intense, I wasn’t sure this would be a good idea. I couldn’t get any sleep last night thanks to the stuffy room we had (no a/c) and waking up in the middle of the night shitting nothing but water. I don’t know if it was something I ate or just the abuse I’ve been putting on my stomach over the last couple days with our intense schedule. Decided to postpone today’s trip and just get some real good rest instead. Changed to an air conditioned room so I could sleep properly and also reduced diet to fruit, water & rehydration salts. This is the kind of situation that would suck if you were traveling on your own, but good thing I had KF’s shoulder to lean on!

Day 14: Road to Guatemala

Clearing Guatemalan customs in the middle of nowhere

Another 6am start. A 4-5 hour drive from Palenque to Frontera Corezal, the Mexican border. Cleared through customs for our exit stamp, then headed down to the river for border crossing – a 20 minute ferry across to Bethel, the Guatemalan border. Continued 繼續看…
